adidas - Honoring Black Excellence

Campaign Styling | Wardrobe

Atlanta, Georgia

Signboard with Adidas and Adidas Original logos, and text describing a project called 'Pathways & Pipelines,' which explores black excellence in practice through narratives and themes, honoring black experience as symbols, and highlighting black contributions in community and culture.

adidas’ Honoring Black Excellence initiative celebrates artists, organizers, and cultural leaders whose work strengthens community and expands the legacy of Black creativity.

For the Atlanta chapter of the campaign, Marcus Allen styled honorees, performers, and community members—including the Gee’s Bend quilters and their families. The wardrobe approach blended archival references with contemporary adidas sportswear, creating a visual dialogue between Southern craft traditions and modern athletic culture.

The result was a portrait of Atlanta’s creative community that honored heritage while highlighting the evolving language of Black cultural expression.
